    I think after sanitizing you should not flush with tap water without the filters. Doing this will contaminate the RO housing. I think it makes more sense to put the filters in place before flushing the system. Mycobacterium is in tap water and can colonize in the carbon filters.

    My brine stage is set to 60 minutes. During this time I see the brine solution goes down but the brine is siphoned off sooner than 60 minutes so I kept adding water with the hose. So does there have to be enough water in brine tank to run for 60 minutes? That seems like a lot of water especially if brine tank is full of salt (less water).

    I shocked my well, my water softener system and my RO system. I followed the procedure here for the RO system. Afterwards I took samples and sent them for testing and everything came back clean except the RO system which came back overgrown. I did remove all the filters and membrane since the system needed it but now that it is still contaminated, I don't really want to go through the same process over and eat the cost of more new components when it won't necessarily correct the problem. I believe the new RO membrane was the problem and if you can't sterilize everything I don't see what use RO is. It's too much of a pain, too expensive and the most likely part of your water system to cause you to be drinking unsafe water. Stay simple!

    Gary, I successfully empied my tank and hooked it back up again and it is running fine. Thankyou for the good instructions. But, while I was emptying the tank the water stopped coming out about half way empty. I had to insert a stick into the air valve to empty the rest of the water as well as alot of the air. The water came out brownish. Is that because it has rusted inside? Do I need to replace the tank? Now that it is up and running there is no sign of discoloration or off taste. What do you think?

    Two things: 1. the recommended sodium intake per day by gov't and previous health standards has been proven to be HALF what we actually need. So you can pretty much take all your sodium content and toss it. 2. Just eat red meat and you will get far far far more nutrients and electrolytes than eating any fruits or vegetables. Few people have true knowledge to realize that vegetable and fruit nutrients are hardly bioavailable for humans, so eating red meat for your nutrients is far more likely to give you the nutrients you need...and no, cholosterol does not cause heart disease...cause that was everyone's next comment.

    Hi Gary, appreciate your videos. Im trying to troubleshoot my at least 15 year old fleck 5600 econominder thats not really softening the water very well. I replaced the resin last year and that didn't seem to help. I'm wondering, could the (never been replaced) brine valve and or piston and seals somehow be the culprit? I'm wondering if either of those assemblies could possibly be leaking untreated water into the resin tank. Id br happy to provide pictures of the piston though a dropbox link if you'd like, it has some substantial pitting in places. Kinda stumped down here in Florida my friend, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the Injector nozzle and injector throat are clear of any obstructions. water hardness is 14, resin tank is clack 8X44

  • @acardnal
    @acardnal 5 днів тому

    You indicated in this video that a water softener should regenerate at least once every 14 days (Days Override setting). You said this would mitigate the clumping of the resin beads and "fluff up" the media. I have never heard of this before. I am a single person with a 32,000 grain capacity softener. It is set on AUTO Regen so it determines when to regen based on water hardness (23 grains) and softener capacity and gallons used (metered). This has been about every 17 days for me. When I configured the Days Override setting to 14 days my gallons per regen decreased accordingly. Now it will use more water and salt. Question: Is it really necessary to configure the Days Override setting to 14 days?

    • @GarytheWaterGuy

    Icelandic water is shipped via Icelandic Air’s freight planes and if allowing on passenger jets, then to a local distributor of soda/beer depending on the country. Did you know soda is manufactured and distributed by a lot of beer companies in the EU? Why air shipping, no port big enough for container shipping. Other large item shipping comes by Ferry from Denmark, Norway and UK. Also being part of the EU it is a plant based bottle. Yeah I am a fan of bottle water filtered by volcanic rock. My drinking water as a kid was from volcanic rock, and still is but the chlorine since discovery and illness from cryptosporidium ruined it for me. Otherwise very informative video. However I use a water filter in my hometown.

    I have two tanks I need to replace the resin water filter head. It is a clack but I don’t know the model number. It not for the brine tank. Does not have a brine intake hose. It is about 10 years old.

    Should I put the filtration before or after the pressure tank?
